We are in the process of documenting Dr. Siegfried Stern's fate.

Siegfried Stern studied law at the University of Marburg. In 1909, he published his dissertation on "Die Gefahrtragung beim Kaufe" (The Bearing of Risk when Purchasing) at R. Friedrich's Universitäts-Buchdruckerei in Marburg. At that time he was a trainee lawyer in Neuhof near Fulda. Surprisingly, his work was again published the following year by the Marburg N. G. Elwart'schen Universitäts- und Verlagsbuchhandlung as a prize-winning thesis by the law faculty of the University of Marburg. Shortly before the First World War, Dr. Siegfried Stern moved to Frankfurt on the Main and worked there as a lawyer. He is first listed in the Frankfurt address book in 1914 with a law firm at Opernplatz 4 and an apartment in the Westend district at Klüber street 12.
After completing his military service, Siegfried Stern reopened his law firm in Frankfurt on the Main. He was listed in the Frankfurt address book of 1919 with the address "Elsheimer Street 8", while the newspaper advertisement of January 1919 gives Schiller street 12 as the office address. Siegfried Stern thus both opened his office elsewhere and found a new home. He was admitted to the Frankfurt District Court as a lawyer from September 1920. At least temporarily, he worked for the Dreyfus & Co. bank in Frankfurt in the first half of the 1920s. He was finally appointed notary in November 1925. He is listed in the address book of the time with the address Schiller street 12. Around 1929, Siegfried Stern moved his office to Hoch street 36. From 1932 to the end of 1935, the lawyer Dr. Ernst Kahn, who managed to emigrate to the USA in April 1936, also worked in his office.
As a so-called "Frontkämpfer" (front-line fighter), Dr. Siegfried Stern was able to continue working as a lawyer and notary even after the National Socialists came to power in 1933. In November 1935, however, he was stripped of his notary's office. He then dissolved the office partnership with Dr. Ernst Kahn. Dr. Stern lived at Hoch street 36 until the end, and in July of the following year he returned his license to practice as a lawyer. Siegfried Stern then emigrated to Vienna. Whether he was later able to emigrate from Austria has yet to be clarified.
Dr. Siegfried Stern joined the Frankfurt on the Main section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club in 1921. How he participated in the life of the section is beyond our knowledge for the time being. As a former "Frontkämpfer" (front-line fighter), he could also have been a member of the section after 1933. Whether he left the section or was expelled before emigrating to Vienna in 1936 cannot be determined at present due to a lack of sources.
